Connecticut to Ann Arbor

So. What’s been going on in my life since I last talked to everyone. I’m at college. Yay. The University of Michigan. Double yay. And I am currently enrolled in the school of Art and Design. Triple yay.

So far, so amazing. I love it here. I joined a sorority, something I wasn’t sure that I would do, and have found really incredible friends through doing so. What I really love about being at such a big school is how many different friend groups I get to be a part of. I have the girls in my hall, the people in the hall above me, my friends from my sorority, and my friends from the art school. Trust me when I say that I never get bored. If I need someone to chill and watch a movie with, I have that. If I need someone to go out with, I have that. If I need someone to go to the library and cram study with me, there’s always a table full of people that I can go join. People always told me that the best part about college is being able to be surrounded by so many people with the same interests as you, but you don’t realize how true this is until you’re here yourself.

This Friday is winter break. Instead of going from cold Michigan to cold Connecticut, I’m off to California with two of my best friends. My friend, Mackenzie, lives thirty minutes outside of San Francisco, so Mackenzie, Christina and I are hopping on a plane together and will be off to California in (omg) 5 days to hike, eat home cooked meals and to watch our skin tones finally change color as we are reminded what real, warm sun feels like. I am honestly living the dream.

Although I am beyond ready for a break and for California and for spending seven days with two of my favorite people, I am doing what I love here at Michigan. And when you’re doing what you love, you don’t really need a break. You might still want one– because who is going to turn down sleeping in and seeing new, beautiful things every day– but you don’t necessarily need one. Every day I wake up at 7:30, get out of bed, and head down to the studio, excited to see what new things I will discover and learn in the world of art.

On that note, I will talk to you all later.
